Full-service deck design and construction — composite, wood, or mixed.
Slip-resistant surfaces, proper drainage, and full code compliance — from design and permits to the finished build.
Get a Free EstimateA pool deck has to do more than look good — it needs to be safe when wet, stay comfortable in Georgia's summer heat, drain properly so water doesn't pool against your foundation, and meet your county's barrier codes. Those requirements narrow the material and design choices quite a bit compared to a standard deck.
Above-ground and in-ground pools are completely different builds structurally. Above-ground decks are freestanding platforms with independent footings — no load transferred to the pool walls. In-ground surrounds sit at grade with precise drainage slope and footings set outside the excavation zone. The approach section below covers both in detail.
We build pool decks in composite, hardwood, and coordinated paver combinations. Most pool projects end up in composite (AZEK or Trex) because of the moisture resistance and zero splinters, but the surface options section below covers all the tradeoffs honestly.
Slip resistance, heat retention, and water durability — here's how the options stack up.
AZEK PVC absorbs almost zero moisture, resists mold and algae, and won't splinter. Textured surfaces for slip resistance. Choose lighter colors to minimize heat.
Composite Decks →Premium natural option. Ipe stays cooler than composite in direct sun and won't splinter. Needs annual oiling. We use stainless hidden fasteners to prevent rust near the pool.
Coordinated with hardscape partners. Pavers drain through joints; stamped concrete needs non-slip additive. Some clients combine composite + paver patio.
Patio Options →Composite deck on one side, paver patio on the other — a fully integrated outdoor living space around the pool with the best of both materials.
The structural approach is completely different — getting it wrong creates safety problems.
Freestanding platforms at rim height with independent posts and footings — no load transferred to pool walls. Self-closing gates meeting Georgia pool barrier code.
Grade-level decks wrapping the coping with precise drainage slope (1/8" to 1/4" per foot). Footings set outside the excavation zone. Multi-level designs with pergola shade are a popular addition.
Fulton, Cobb, DeKalb, and Gwinnett require 48" barriers, self-closing gates, and specific setbacks. We handle all permits, inspections, and coordination with your pool contractor and fencing.

From first call to final walkthrough, we make the process simple and stress-free.
We evaluate your pool type, surrounding grade, soil conditions, drainage patterns, and code requirements for your county.
Deck layout designed to maximize usable space while ensuring proper drainage slope away from the pool and your home's foundation.
Concrete footings set outside the pool excavation zone, deep enough for Georgia's red clay. Stainless hardware throughout to prevent rust near water.
Slip-resistant boards installed with hidden fasteners. Railings, stairs, and self-closing gates completed to meet pool barrier code.
County inspection, drainage and safety verification, walkthrough with you, and full jobsite cleanup.

Get a Free EstimateA pool deck typically runs $20,000 to $55,000+ depending on size, materials, and complexity. A basic composite surround for an above-ground pool starts around $20,000-$35,000 installed. A full wrap-around deck for an in-ground pool with seating and lighting lands in the $35,000-$55,000 range. Multi-level pool decks with outdoor kitchen space go higher. We provide free estimates and walk you through every option for your specific pool setup.
Composite decking — specifically AZEK or TimberTech AZEK (100% PVC) — is the best material for pool decks. It resists moisture, mold, and algae better than any other option. It won't splinter, so bare feet are safe. And it requires zero staining or sealing despite constant water exposure. Trex Transcend is another strong choice. We avoid recommending wood for pool decks because the constant wet-dry cycle accelerates rot and creates slippery surfaces. If you want wood aesthetics, composite gives you that look without the risk.
Georgia pool barrier codes require a fence or barrier at least 48 inches high around the pool area, with self-closing and self-latching gates. Counties like Fulton, Cobb, and DeKalb enforce these requirements strictly. Deck structures near pools also need standard building permits — same as any deck over 30 inches above grade or attached to the house. Electrical components (lighting, outlets) near the pool must meet NEC code for wet locations. We handle all permitting and inspections so you don't have to navigate county offices.
We design every pool deck with a slight slope (typically 1/8" to 1/4" per foot) that directs water away from both the pool and your home's foundation. We use proper board gapping to let water pass through the deck surface rather than puddle on top. For multi-level pool decks or decks over living space, we install under-deck drainage systems that channel water to designated runoff areas. Georgia's red clay soil doesn't drain well naturally, so proper grading and drainage planning is essential for any pool deck project.
Most pool deck projects take 2-4 weeks once construction starts. A straightforward surround for an existing above-ground pool might take 7-10 days. A full wrap-around deck for an in-ground pool with built-in seating and lighting typically takes 2-3 weeks. Multi-level pool decks with custom features can run 4+ weeks. Add 1-2 weeks for the design and permitting phase. We coordinate our schedule with your pool installer if the pool is going in at the same time.
